This painting was painted at Las Casitas, a community building on the south edge of the Arroyo Seco in Pasadena. One of my occasional plein aire paintings, this was painted on a surface called Aquabord, which is a board with a textured clay surface specially designed for watercolor and other watermedia. I think it is especially useful in Plein Aire situations. It is sprayed with a special varnish, and then doesn't require glass or plexi covering, although I have framed this without a mat and with a plexiglass covering it - to protect it from overzealous cleaning staff.
